Pantomimes

All pantomimes have been performed in a variety of venues - school theatres, church halls, village halls and community halls. They have been performed in venues with excellent equipment, and in venues where a stage area was non-existent and the company had to create their own acting space on the floor (not to mention changing in corridors and behind screens a stone's throw from the audience!). So if your facilities and/or budget are limited, all it takes is a little imagination and you can still have fun performing any one of the following scripts:

Evil witch, IONA SKUNK, sets out to rule the world and enslave humanity. Her first target is GOLDILOCKS, daughter of PROVOST HIRAM CHEEP. The witch enlists the help of the anti-social BRUINS – MAMMY BRUIN, and DADDY and WAYNE, both newly released from Ye Olde Barlinnie; they are lured into her service by the promise of help to steal the Provost’s treasure. Neither MALARKEY, THE MYSTIC’s inept fortune-telling, nor WIDOW TUFF McDUFF’s attempts at crime-fighting can help anti-hero, FLUFF McDUFF, to defeat the witch. His only hope lies with HOKI and KOKI, two strange policemen who have in their possession the Stone of Destruction!

Little Bo Peep

MA PEEP is desperate – if she cannot find a full year’s rent pronto, she and her daughter, BO PEEP will be turned off their farm by wicked, ugly LADY MUCK who is rumoured to be a witch. Then a stranger, BOY BLUE, offers to help. He will shear all the sheep in double quick time to raise the money. But Lady Muck has two inept thieves in her power, NICKER and NOCKER, who steal the sheep and kidnap Boy Blue. Lady Muck has Bo Peep at her mercy and reveals her real plan – a magic spell to swop her own ugly looks for Bo Peep’s beauty. Can FAIRY SILVINA save the day? Only if she can free herself from the curse placed on her head by Lady Muck.

When MELODY MUFFET has a win on the lottery, she books a holiday at sumptuous McGrotty Mansions. Unfortunately it turns out to be nothing like the glossy brochure advert. The proprietress, DOTTY McGROTTY, is down on her luck, and her son, WATTIE, is fighting a losing battle to keep the place habitable. FAIRY SOLID conjures up the help of two unemployed cleaners, SPIC and SPAN, but they are terrorized by a band of rubbish-dropping, litter-lout spiders. However love is in the air! Dotty’s idol checks in to McGrotty Mansions - PAT McCAULEY, (failed) rock singer. And Wattie has found the girl of his dreams in Melody, but BLACKHEART, the SPIDERMAN and his sidekick, CRAWLER, have other plans for her.

Soon, HEEBY and JEEBY, two giant spiders, are after the entire Muffet family. MA MUFFET, Maisie, and her brother, MALKY. Can pest control operative, CATCHER McSCRATCHER, save the day? Will the local BURGLAR, helped by the TRAINEE BURGLAR, turn over a new leaf and help with a secret weapon? And which side will the lonely ghost, GROANER, help? If only GRANNY McCLARTY would stop making Dandelionade, her potent home brew! It brings out the worst in people, especially BLACK DUGALD, Chieftain of the Glen. When his trusty pest exterminators, RENTY O’KILL and VERMINA BATES, fail to help him drive the villagers from the Glen so he can turn it into a giant rubbish tip and make a fortune, the WOLF from Bogle Wood becomes a useful ally. Advised by FAIRY SLIMLINE, WEE WILLIE WINKIE tries to save the Glen and prevent RED RIDING HOOD falling into Dugald’s clutches, but it takes MAGNUS, Dugald’s nephew and rightful Chieftain, returning apparently from the dead, to sort things out in an ‘explosive’ ending.

TAM the BAM, down on his luck when he arrives in Stooshiebrig, is mocked by its inhabitants for his eccentric appearance. However, helped (reluctantly) by FAIRY MARY, he is soon pursued by GRANNY GRABBEM and admired by RED RIDING HOOD. Then a WOLF escapes from Stooshiebrig Zoo. Before the incompetent HEAD ZOOKEEPER and his blundering employees, NIT and WIT, can capture him, MAG the HAG beats them to it, enchants the Wolf, and uses him in her quest to terrorise the inhabitants of Stooshiebrig, first target being Red Riding Hood. When Red Riding Hood disappears, her mother, MA HOOD, blames Tam and he has to brave the ghostly terrors of Boggy Braes and the wrath of Mag the Hag to save Red Riding Hood from the Wolf.

Dissatisfaction reigns in Auchterchookie Castle. Penny-pinching KING GRABBALOT has lost two pence. Greedy QUEEN GORGEALOT is tired of bread and honey and demands more and more exotic pies. The cook, IDA BRIDIE, tries to please everybody, including JOSIE, the laundry maid, and MADDIE, the kitchen maid who haven't been paid by mean, old Grabbalot. When the GREAT FANDANGO arrives in town, with two would-be actors, HAM and DUFF, Ida thinks her problems are solved, but a good deed by TRIXIE, the PIXIE, misfires and puts them all in danger from MADAME DIABOLA and her evil CROWS.

The Land of Nod is in dire straits, tyrannized by EVILIUS DE MON, who plans to enslave all the children. WEE WILLIE WINKIE arrives, sent by SUPERSILLIA, his fairy Godmother, to sort out the trouble with his bag of magic dust. Supersillia has her own problems – the latest batch of trainee fairy godmothers includes HOCUS and POCUS, two inept ex-tooth-fairies. When they are sent to Nod to be fairy godmothers to the terrible twins, HAREM and SCAREM, their incompetence, coupled with the over-curiosity of ROSIE (NOSY) DOZY, the twins’ granny, threatens to wreck Wee Willie Winkie’s good work and hand victory to Evilius De Mon.

Hard times in Sookieglen! The BOGEYMAN and his team of GHOSTS are running riot terrorising everybody, GRANNY GUMDROP's sweet stall is plundered by catburglars, NABBER and GRABBER, and Granny's granddaughters, TEENY and WEENY go missing. The local policeman, BOBBY MacROBBIE hinders rather than helps, and in no time, WEE WILLIE WINKIE stands accused of theft, kidnapping and enticing Granny's lucky, black cat away from her - LUCKY is the only one to know the truth about what's happened and takes Willie's side. But the Bogeyman has a strange weakness, and Willie and Lucky plot to use it to free the growing band of prisoners in Creepy Castle.
